Jena and Brooks | UT engagments

Remember this sneak peek?

I'm sure you've all just anxiously been awaiting Jena and Brooks because, well, they are gorgeous. Right? But you know, they really are. Inside and out. When Jena contacted me about photographing her wedding, I knew I found someone that had a similar style as me. We talked about her wedding plans, and we talked about her engagements, etc. She said what I love to hear: I love what you do, and I trust you completely to do your thing. YES!

But you know, when I do MY thing, my heart really goes into it, and I always walk away having learned some valuable lesson. This is what I love about humanity. We all have something to teach each other. We all have something to learn. We have to be open. And what I learned from both Jena and Brooks is this:
Life is happy, but it is ultimately what you choose.
Sometimes you have to be patient.
God is good. Really good.
Okay, so these are things I actually already knew, but it's really good to be reminded, because honestly, these are things that, for some, are easy to forget. But I know that if these two can always remember these three things, their lives will be amazing together.

Jena does this adorable hip bump, and is just so full of life and laughter, you cannot help but smile when you are with her. It is easy to see why Brooks has fallen so hard for her.

Think these are nice? Just you wait for her bridals (insert really excited laugh here, because they are AWESOME!). :)

Heather and Brad | Beloved

Since my last post was so long on words, I'll try to keep this short and long on pictures instead.

When you find the right person, you feel it in your soul. Old wounds you thought might never heal, dissolve. Questions you had about ever finding the right person wash away. Life is more beautiful, more meaningful, more felt.

I've known Heather for a long time, more than half my life really. She is a beautiful, amazing person inside and out. She is sincere and tender and happy. When she started dating Brad everything wonderful and beautiful about her persona intensified. When she called me and asked to hire me for her wedding, I was first honored and second tickled that I'd get to document something special for her and for Brad.

Everyone has a story. And I love getting the opportunity to give people a voice in their stories. For Heather and Brad's engagement session I decided, because of their story, to do a Beloved session instead of the traditional engagement session. They were wonderful and open and I am so happy with the results. Luckily, so were they.
And do you know what made me happiest of all? The image below is the one they chose for their announcements. Why? She told me, "THIS is the way he looks at me that I can never describe to him. It's this face that makes me melt." They were a little worried that not using something traditional would somehow be a bad thing, and when asked about it, I told them that they should follow their heart. Be themselves. Send out what they love. Still unsure they compared the image with one of the traditional shots I took for them, and it was obvious to them. This was the right image because it was them and it was full of feeling.

I you are interested in a Beloved session, contact me. This type of session is devoted to love and heart feelings. You can do one for your anniversary, or if you've been married for many many years. It's all about you.

Brandie and Conley | Utah Engagements

We got snowed out. That's right. Snowed out. Thumbs way down to that since I had SO. MUCH. MORE planned for this engagement session. But we still got some fun stuff to work with and I'm excited to get to shoot ANOTHER set of engagements in the spring. Brandie and Conley are so happy (really, he told me, "I'm just so happy") and I could tell that he was. And why wouldn't you be if you were marrying Brandie? She is absolutely beautiful inside and out. So without further ado, push play on the video (and then pause) and while it's buffering check out some of the images...then don't forget to come back and watch the video. It's adorable.

If you have a session or wedding that has not been blogged from 2009, I will be playing catch up over the next couple of weeks!

And don't forget to refer those holiday engagements my way! If they reserve their date in the next four weeks they'll get an awesome gift, and it gets YOU an awesome gift too!

Did you remember to go watch that video from the fabulous Aubrey?
