Katie and Jake

You might recognize Katie and Jake from their engagement session a while back. They got married last week at the Mt. Timponogos Temple. I was lucky enough to attend the ceremony, and what a beautiful day it was for them...embarking on a new life together with the most adoring love for one another.
I've only just started proofing their pictures, but wanted to share a couple since it's been a few days since I last posted. I'll be sure to share more as I get the time to process these.

It's Here! It's Here!

I am now the proud owner of a brand-spanking new Canon 5D. Woot!!! This is huge for me...I hummed and hawed for half a year about what to get...talking myself up to one thing and then down, then up to something else. I thought about it for so long and after I asked myself what direction I wanted to take things, the answer was very clear to me. And I am so excited about my new camera!

What does this mean for clients? It means you get even better quality images, not to mention that you can print HUGE...yes, I've had a few clients that have wanted bigger prints than I've been able to offer in the past and I'm excited that now the size of prints I can offer will be even better.
And here are a few first test shots...I look forward to getting used to my new camera!

Listen

Just wanted to promote a friend of mine. I've literally been listening to Mango Grove over and over this morning. The lyrics are...perfect. I've known Trent since high school (ah...the days), and I can't get over his talent emerging. Beauty:) Enjoy!

Listen here.

Miles 10 months

How lucky am I? This was the first newborn I photographed and I've been lucky to photograph all of his milestone ages...we missed 9 months (I was moving), so we did a mini 10-month session instead. I love window light...it's so gorgeous.

And, if any of these look weird, please let me know--Jason bumped my monitor settings. Thanks!

What do you want for Christmas?

This question always baffles me...it doesn't help that my birthday is right after Christmas either. I'm usually the one that can come up with presents for people I love, but when it comes to the receiving...I just don't know how to ask for anything, and I never know WHAT I want. I pretty much have everything that I want anyway, so really, it seems kind of pointless to receive. But this year, I'm getting a BRAND NEW CAMERA!!!! Maybe something you all won't be excited about, but I'm even getting it EARLY!!! I get to order it this weekend. Woot!

No, I won't tell you now what I'm getting. ANyone want to guess?? Lol. I've done a whole lot of research and I've been blessed with so many great clients this opening year of business. I've been trying to set goals (I'm so bad at that) for my business this next year, and part of that is equipment...and I'm just so excited to have finally figured it out! Can't wait! Can't wait!

Circus Circus

A friend of mine recently adopted two children from Ethiopia. What an amazing story she has--it literally brought tears to my eyes as she told me all about her realization that she had two children in Ethopia that she needed to bring home. What an emotional roller coaster the adoption process is...I've seen two friends go through it successfully... a dear friend that adopted within the USA and then this sweet family adopt from out of the country. Now my brother/sister in law are going through the process as well. I have to say I have so much respect for all those involved in the process. It just tugs at your heart strings, you know? Anyway, as a gift I offered Jen some pics and she took me up on that for their Christmas cards...4 under the age of 5....that was a new one for me! Had to share a couple that just made me giggle and a couple of mom and dad too:)

More newborn

This little fella weighed 9 lbs 7 oz...and I took these at 4 days old.

Birth

What an incredible experience to be part of...I've never done a birth photography session before, but wow...it was amazing to be there. The mom ended up having a c-section after 14+ hours of labor, bless her heart, but she was such a trooper. I was lucky to get to come into the operating room and make sure to get shots right when the baby was born. Here are some (several) for you to enjoy!

And then the action pics...I won't show ;)

UPDATING

I have fallen so far behind in sharing sessions, so I'm trying to catch up! Here are just a couple from the Lacie and Riley's wedding reception...she had the prettiest princess dress, I picked this one because I wanted to show you how full that bottom was...I love how it sways...it reminded me of that movie Runaway Bride where Julia Roberts' character gets in the wedding dress and says she feels like a bell (or something like that) and she sways back and forth, "ding dong, ding dong"...Lacie's dress had the prettiest bottom that reminded me very much of that scene.
And this little angel was way too much fun to photograph. I wanted to share this one because I love the reflection of both of their white dresses on the floor.

My girl

My new favorite of my girl. I adore her crooked little mouth and her big, bright eyes.

Katie's Bridals

I'm back online! What a crazy weekend--I shot a wedding on Friday evening, moved on Saturday, went back and cleaned the old house on Sunday, Monday I shot Katie's bridals and then stayed all night at the hospital to do a birth photography session! Sheesh! Now I'm madly trying to get the new house organized and sessions proofed. Here's one.

Katie wanted to do her bridals at night at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake. We had a lot of fun experimenting with light. She looked absolutely amazing, and I love the "floofies" (as she called them) on her dress. I can't wait to shoot her wedding in December--it's going to be gorgeous-Katie has paid attention to every little detail and knowing her impecable taste, it will come out wonderfully.
