Kristine and Jeremy Wedding
This weekend I got to photograph Kristine and Jeremy's wedding at the East Canyon Resort. It was a beautiful evening, and the ceremony took place just after the sun set on the mountainside. The surroundings were beautiful, and the love of family and friends was thick in the air. The decorations were just exquisite and PINK was everywhere. Here's just a quick sneak peek for you Kristine, to tide you over until I get the rest done!
Kristine really wanted to do some of my veil shots with the sun behind her, but since the sun was down we improvised and triggered an off-camera flash. I actually really love the feel of it.

Again, the sun was down and I had to drag my shutter to get the jumping shots...they are a bit blurry, but I love that about them. I love all the different expressions and fun that the wedding party was having with these. The funnest part was trying to convince Jeremy that he should jump for his life.

As promised...
...more of this beauty. Stephanie is just beautiful, and I could not choose my favorites, so you are getting to see several different ones I loved instead. Can I just say, she is such a great bride...can you imagine, she went to pick up her dress from being altered the day before our shoot, and she finds out that they cannot alter her dress to fit her! Talk about heart-stop! Luckily she was able to find a gorgeous dress that fit her like a glove and simply and elegantly accentuated her beauty.
She was so cute, too...as we were planning her bridals, she told me that she really wanted to bring a sign along. I figured she meant a posterboard with writing on it, but she went all out and made this cute sign for her love (she even made handles on the back, which just made me giggle). There are so many more I'd love to share, but I won't for now.

Door light
I know you've gotten a lot of my kids lately. I don't usually share as much of them, but I've come to realize that I hardly take pics of them...well, usually just quick snapshots that are nothing to jump or scream about. Anyway, I've been wanting to practice doorway lighting for, oh, a year maybe, and finally got the urge to do it today. S had just woken from her nap and I told the boys to throw on some white T's. I'm not sure I've done this remotely correctly, but I do love how these turned out.

Top of the Mountain
I wanted to share a few more...Holly found this gorgeous location for us to shoot at. She was very specific about what she wanted, and she set out to find it, and found exactly what she was looking for. The field was just gorgeous with wildflowers all over. But you know, I've never shot near the top of a mountain before and the lighting is so (so so so) much harder! I realized it would be, but just having the experience really made me appreciate so much more the photographers that shoot up here or in mid-day harsh sun, because that's what we got! But, check out the awesome rock...worth it, right?

Sneak Peek
I love repeat clients, and this family has been one of my best. Thanks Holly! This time I got to photograph her side of the family including her parents and brothers, etc. I only pulled up a few to give a quick sneak peek, but I know that the little kids are the ones they really want to see, so here are just a quick few I loved. I like taking traditional headshots of people, I especially love eyes, but these stood out to me for different reasons. I just love N in the flowers touching Holly's hand. There is something so sweet to me about it. And this little lady was simply adorable, but I HAD to share this mega pout. Seriously, I think that little lip was just too stinkin' cute. (my color is wonky on this one here...I'll get that fixed tomorrow!)
He did NOT want anything to do with me, but loved walking through the tall flowers looking for bugs. I love that he is such a kid-so full of energy and life!
A captured moment.
And I just adore this amazing human being, especially because I got to be there when he was born....a little miracle I cherish!

Happy. Life.
I often find it hard to be a mom. I'm constantly cleaning up after the messes the kids make, and boy do they make some awful messes! They yell and hit and make me wonder where they are learning the things they do. They are demanding and grumpy and I fear I get to be the same by the end of the day. BUT there are so many moments in between all of the not-so-good stuff that make me so proud to be a mother. Like when I see one trying to protect their sibling, or when they give me a big hug and kiss and tell me "You are the best!" Or when they get excited over the smallest things like having pizza for dinner or Daddy coming home. But what I love more than anything else is when I get one-on-one time with each of my children and I get to learn more about them on a deeper level; when I get to see the way they view me and our relationship. I cherish the things we talk about and the games we play, the stories we read and the cuddles we share. But the thing that tops my list is the laughter I hear when my kids think I'm goofy, or when they are being goofy themselves. I got to spend some time with D today and we had so much fun. I took out my camera and he kept doing funny things and would ask to see and would let out peals of laughter at himself. Gosh, I love being his mom.

Fun new toy!
Have you ever tried to figure out how to arrange pictures on your wall? I have absolutely been there before, and I know first-hand how painful it can be. Lucky for both of us, I got an awesome little "toy" to play with the other day--it was shared by a sweet member of a photography group I'm part of. There are many other arrangement ideas, and so far I'm really liking the tool. What do you think?

Sophia
I love my boys to death! When I was pregnant with Sophia I said I would have been just as happy with a boy, and it was the truth. When we found out we were having a girl, I almost didn't believe it. But she was born a girl! And it has been such an interesting adventure. She is fascinating to watch. There is something so innocent and gentle about her, yet other parts of her are curious and ferocious. She fights like one of the boys, and tells me "that's cute!" when we see go shopping. Every dress she sees/wears is a thrilling new "della" (Cinderella). She loves pink and purple and green too. She loves getting dirty too. She just turned two and I'm curious to see what she'll become this year in her life--she is carefree, yet concerned; loving, yet fierce. Her laugh is the best sound I've ever heard, and her hugs the best I've ever had. She is amazing to me in every single way and I can't adore her enough.
Just some snapshots that I love of her.

Family
I wasn't sure if this session would ever really happen...I think we rescheduled the session something like 10 times! It was either a)bad weather b)baseball finals or c)illness (including a broken arm!). The day came and I just had to laugh when I was waiting for them and got a phone call saying traffic was bad....BUT THEY MADE IT!!! We didn't have a lot of sunshine left, but I'm so happy with what we were able to do with it:) I had a great time getting to know Janelle, Matt and her kids. I am seriously so lucky to have the most beautiful clients! And I'll let you in on a little secret: Janelle is writing a cookbook (I believe with her mom), so I'll be sure to share all the great info when it's all done!! I'm sure it will be fabulous! If you are anything like me, you love new recipes just as much as I do.
